The beauty of working one to one with primary students and their families is that they have scope to be involved with the design of the learning process, not just its delivery.
W e offer specialist one to one home tuition and support for young people across the primary age range. Whether it’s preparing for Y6 SAT’s, getting ready for the challenges of secondary school, adapting to the transition from infants to juniors or learning the fundamentals of literacy and numeracy we are there to support you and your child academically, socially, and emotionally.
Whether it’s a boost that’s needed for a particular transition, an issue with confidence and anxiety, or whether you need specialist input with a particular learning need like dyslexia, dyscalculia, ASD, or another SEN, we understand how important it is to find someone who is right for your child.
We teach creatively with innovative techniques, as well as with attention to interpersonal needs so that we can ensure that sessions are enriching and rewarding. If you are not feeling very confident about your maths, then counting bees to save them from extinction, or organizing storm troopers for an imminent invasion can really make you see things in a new way.
We like to use activities and approaches like drama, games, mindfulness, art and creative role-play in our sessions not just to make them completely engaging and wonderful but because this is often how children learn best. However, we don’t make assumptions, and every session is planned around individual needs, challenges, and strengths.
We like working together to help find new worlds of adventure.
Our lovely primary tutors are very experienced at approaching anxieties or learning needs holistically for younger children. We place great emphasis on building skills and confidence while making learning enjoyable and fun. Whilst we are very astute about working within the national curriculum, we also think that there is no reason why sessions cannot be absolutely inspirational at the same time.
Phonics, for example, works amazingly for many children, but if your child just needs a different approach, then we can devise a literacy strategy that works for them. Perhaps they could be working on a visual dream jar, or building a pirate ship, whilst expanding and practising their spelling and grammar. You might even want to join in (or have a well-deserved cup of tea with your feet up). Just give us a call to discuss your needs. We would love to talk to you, and we will go out of our way to help.
